Tezpur University (TU) is a central university located in the city of Tezpur, in the state of Assam, India. Established in 1994 by an Act of Parliament, the university functions under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education (formerly the Ministry of Human Resource Development) of the Government of India.
History and Establishment
The university was founded in response to the need for higher education institutions in the northeastern region of India. The Tezpur University Act, 1994, provided the legal framework for its creation, and the first batch of students was admitted in 1995.
