Texas State Highway Spur 342 (Spur 342) is a state highway spur route located entirely within the city of Galveston, Texas, United States. Officially named Butterowe Boulevard, it is commonly known by locals as 61st Street. The route stretches approximately 1.683 miles (2.709 km) across Galveston Island and is maintained by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
Route Description
Spur 342 begins at its southern terminus at an intersection with Farm to Market Road 3005 (FM 3005, Seawall Boulevard) on the Galveston Seawall. From there, it heads north-northwest along 61st Street as a six-lane divided highway. The route passes through commercial resort areas with some residences before crossing Offats Bayou. Shortly after, Spur 342 reaches its northern terminus at an interchange with Interstate 45 (I-45, Gulf Freeway) and State Highway 87 (SH 87, Broadway Avenue J) in a commercial area.
History
Spur 342 was designated onto its current alignment on September 26, 1960, and has remained on that alignment since.
