Tenala is a village located in the southeast of Finland, within the municipality of Loviisa in the region of Uusimaa. Historically, Tenala functioned as an independent municipality; it was established as a separate administrative unit in the 19th century and later consolidated with the city of Loviisa on 1 January 2010.
The settlement is situated near the banks of the Porvoonjoki River, approximately 10 kilometres north of Loviisa’s town centre. Tenala is noted for its wooden parish church, Tenala Church, which was constructed between 1762 and 1765 and represents an example of 18th‑century Finnish ecclesiastical architecture.
Following the municipal consolidation, Tenala continues to be recognised as a distinct village community within Loviisa, retaining local services such as a primary school, a library, and small‑scale commercial enterprises. Demographic data specific to the village are not regularly published separately from the wider Loviisa municipality; as of the most recent municipal statistics, the combined population of Loviisa was about 15 000 residents.
