The Telisai–Lumut Highway is a major dual-carriageway road in Brunei Darussalam, situated within the Tutong and Belait Districts. Spanning approximately 18.6 kilometers (11.6 miles), the highway serves as a critical segment of the country's national road network and is an integral part of the Pan-Borneo Highway system.
The primary objective of the highway's construction was to provide a more direct and efficient bypass to the original coastal road, Jalan Telisai–Lumut, which is characterized by a single-carriageway layout and transit through residential areas. By diverting through-traffic, the highway facilitates faster travel between the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, and the western industrial centers of Seria and Kuala Belait.
The project was managed by the Public Works Department (Jabatan Kerja Raya) under the Ministry of Development of Brunei. Construction involved the development of four lanes (two in each direction), several flyovers, and interchanges to manage traffic flow effectively. The highway was officially opened to the public in June 2016.
In addition to reducing travel time, the Telisai–Lumut Highway was designed to enhance road safety and accommodate the increasing volume of heavy vehicles traveling between the districts. It remains one of the most significant infrastructure developments in Brunei’s land transport sector in recent years.
