Tekačevo

Geography
Tekačevo is a small settlement in eastern Slovenia. It belongs to the Municipality of Rogaška Slatina and is situated in the traditional region of Styria (Slovene: Štajerska). Administratively, the settlement is included in the Savinja Statistical Region. The locality lies on the foothills of the Pohorje mountain range, characterized by a mixed agricultural‑forestry landscape.

The settlement’s name is of Slovene origin; it is derived from the common Slovene noun tek “a run, a flow” with the suffix ‑ačevo, which is often used in toponyms indicating a place associated with a particular activity or landscape feature. Historical records of Tekačevo appear in cadastral surveys of the 19th century, documenting its existence as an agrarian village.

1997 shooting incident – On 4 November 1997, Tekačevo was the site of a high‑profile violent incident in which a locally known individual opened fire on neighboring residents.
