Teddy Bowen

Teddy Bowen (born Samuel Edward Bowen; 17 November 1903 – 4 March 1981) was an English professional footballer who played primarily as a defender in the early years of professional football. He appeared in approximately 200 matches for Aston Villa.

Career

Bowen was part of Aston Villa's squad during the 1920s and early 1930s. In May 1926, he traveled with the team on Aston Villa's first foreign tour, which included matches in Sweden and Norway. During the tour, Villa faced Örgryte, who achieved a notable 5–2 victory over the English side. Villa also played a combined Gothenburg team and defeated a select Oslo-combined side 11–2, which included players from FK Lyn. Bowen participated in the tour's recreational activities, including a fishing party.

Personal life

Samuel Edward Bowen was born on 17 November 1903 and died on 4 March 1981 at the age of 77.
