Team Jamis was a professional road bicycle racing team based in the United States that competed as a UCI Continental team from 2011 to 2016. The team was titled sponsored by Jamis Bicycles, a U.S.-based bicycle manufacturer.
History and Formation The team was established for the 2011 season following the dissolution of the previous UCI Continental team, Jamis–Sutter Home (which operated from 2006 to 2010). The new iteration retained the Jamis Bicycles title sponsorship but restructured its management and roster with a focus on developing North American talent and competing on the UCI America Tour and select UCI World Tour events via wildcard invitations.
Notable Achievements During its six-year existence as a UCI Continental outfit, the team achieved numerous victories on the domestic U.S. circuit (USA Cycling Professional Road Tour) and the UCI America Tour. Key results included:
- Overall victory at the 2011 Tour of the Gila (Francisco Mancebo).
- Stage wins at the Tour of California (e.g., Francisco Mancebo, 2011; Julian Arredondo, 2013).
- Multiple United States National Championship titles, including the Road Race (Fred Rodriguez, 2011) and Criterium (Kirk O'Bee, 2011; Eric Marcotte, 2014).
- Overall victory at the 2014 Tour of the Gila (Rob Britton).
- Stage wins at the Vuelta a Colombia and Tour do Rio.
Notable Riders The roster featured a mix of experienced international veterans and emerging North American riders. Prominent alumni include:
- Francisco Mancebo (Spain): Veteran climber and Grand Tour contender; team leader 2011–2013.
- Fred Rodriguez (USA): Four-time U.S. National Road Race Champion.
- Phil Gaimon (USA): Noted climber and author; rode for the team 2012–2013.
- Daniel Summerhill (USA): Sprinter and classics rider; multiple criterium national champion.
- Rob Britton (Canada): Canadian National Time Trial Champion; overall winner Tour of the Gila 2014.
- Julian Arredondo (Colombia): Later moved to World Tour (Trek Factory Racing); won mountains classification at 2014 Giro d'Italia.
- Eric Marcotte (USA): 2014 U.S. National Criterium Champion.
Equipment and Sponsorship The team raced on Jamis frames (primarily the Xenith, Ventura, and Icon models), utilized SRAM drivetrains and components, Zipp wheels, and Selle Italia saddles. Technical partners included Park Tool, Tacx, and Vittoria.
Disbandment The team ceased operations at the end of the 2016 season. Jamis Bicycles announced the decision to discontinue the professional road program in October 2016, citing a strategic shift in marketing focus and the evolving landscape of professional cycling sponsorship. The closure marked the end of over a decade of continuous UCI Continental registration for the Jamis brand (spanning the Jamis–Sutter Home and Team Jamis eras).
