Team Envy Overwatch

Team Envy Overwatch was the Overwatch esports division of the American professional gaming organization Envy Gaming (formerly known as Team Envy). The team competed primarily in the North American region of Overwatch Contenders, the developmental league for Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch League (OWL).

Formation and ownership
Envy Gaming, founded in 2007 as a professional Call of Duty team, expanded into Overwatch in early 2016, establishing Team Envy Overwatch as its first entry into the title. The division was owned and operated by Envy Gaming and operated under the same corporate structure as the organization’s other esports teams.

  • Matthew “Matz” Zunic – main tank
  • Joon “Joon” Hyun‑Woo – flex tank

Coaching and management staff were drawn from Envy Gaming’s broader esports personnel, with head coaches rotating between seasons.

Legacy
Team Envy Overwatch is remembered for its 2017 Contenders NA championship, which contributed to the development of several players who later advanced to the Overwatch League. The division’s brief but competitive presence helped solidify Envy Gaming’s reputation as a multi‑title esports organization.
