Tayler Saucedo

Tayler Andrew Saucedo (born June 18, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). He has previously played in MLB for the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners.

Early Life

Saucedo was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to mother Tanya and father Andy. His father served in the Marines, causing the family to move regularly, including stops in Hawaii, Japan, Seattle, and Texas. While living in Japan, Saucedo was introduced to baseball. He attended Tahoma High School in Maple Valley, Washington, where he was originally cut from the team in 10th grade and failed to record a win in his junior season. He improved to a 7–1 record in his senior year, leading the Bears to a South Puget Sound League North Division title, and was named to the All-State second team and All-North Division first team.

College Career

Saucedo began his collegiate career at Tacoma Community College, pitching in six games in 2012 before dropping out during his sophomore year. He later played for Tennessee Wesleyan University, where in 2015 he posted a 5–2 record with a 1.96 ERA in 16 games and earned Appalachian Athletic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week honors.

Professional Career

Toronto Blue Jays (2015–2022)

Saucedo was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 21st round (632nd overall) of the 2015 MLB draft. He made his professional debut with the Bluefield Blue Jays of the Rookie Appalachian League. Over the following years, he progressed through the Blue Jays' minor league system, playing for the Lansing Lugnuts, Dunedin Blue Jays, New Hampshire Fisher Cats, and Buffalo Bisons.

Saucedo made his MLB debut on June 17, 2021—his 28th birthday—pitching a scoreless inning of relief against the New York Yankees and recording his first career strikeout against Miguel Andújar. He appeared in 29 games for Toronto in 2021, posting a 4.56 ERA with 19 strikeouts over 25⅔ innings. In 2022, he was placed on the injured list with a right hip injury and did not return to the majors that season.

On November 9, 2022, Saucedo was claimed off waivers by the New York Mets, but was designated for assignment on January 24, 2023.

Seattle Mariners (2023–2025)

On January 31, 2023, Saucedo was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Mariners. He appeared in 52 games in 2023 with a 3–2 record, one save, and a 3.59 ERA. In 2024, he posted a 2–0 record, three saves, and a 3.49 ERA over 53 appearances. He struggled in 2025, recording a 7.43 ERA in 10 appearances before being designated for assignment on November 18, 2025, and non-tendered on November 21, 2025.

Los Angeles Angels (2026–present)

On December 30, 2025, Saucedo signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels. He was assigned to the Triple-A Salt Lake Bees and had his contract selected by the Angels on May 3, 2026.

Personal Life

Saucedo is of Mexican descent. He is listed at 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 m) and 185 pounds (84 kg). He bats and throws left-handed.
