Tavigny

Tavigny is a village and a former municipality in Belgium, now part of the municipality of Houffalize in the province of Luxembourg, Wallonia.

Geographic Location

Tavigny is situated in the southeastern part of Belgium, within the province of Luxembourg. It lies in the geographical region of the Ardennes, characterized by its dense forests, rolling hills, and river valleys. The village is located a few kilometers from the town center of Houffalize.

History

Historically, Tavigny was an independent municipality. Like many smaller administrative entities across Belgium, it underwent significant restructuring during the municipal mergers of 1977. As a result of these reforms, Tavigny ceased to be an autonomous municipality and was incorporated into the larger administrative unit of Houffalize. Since then, it has functioned as a "section" (or deelgemeente/section de commune) of Houffalize.

Administration

As a section of Houffalize, Tavigny falls under the administrative jurisdiction of the Houffalize municipal council. While it no longer has its own independent local government, it retains a distinct identity within the broader municipality.
