Taurus TX22 (stylized as TaurusTX™ 22) is a semi-automatic, striker-fired, polymer-frame pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle (.22 LR), manufactured by Taurus International Manufacturing, Inc. It was introduced in 2019 and was named Guns & Ammo Handgun of the Year for 2019.
Overview
The TX22 is a full-size rimfire pistol designed for target shooting, plinking, and competition use. It features a single-action-only (SAO) trigger system with the Taurus Performance Trigger System (PTS), which is engineered to provide a short, smooth pull. The pistol is constructed with a high-grade aluminum slide with a hard anodized black finish, an alloy steel barrel, and a polymer frame.
Variants
The TX22 is offered in several configurations:
- Standard TX22 – Available with barrel lengths of 4.1 inches or 4.6 inches. Magazine capacities include 10, 16, and 22 rounds depending on regional restrictions. Some models include an ambidextrous manual safety; others omit it.
- TX22 Compact – A compact variant with a 3.6-inch barrel and a 13-round staggered-column magazine (or 10-round capacity in restricted states). It is optics-ready from the factory with a Shield RMSc/Holosun K footprint.
- TX22 Competition – A competition-oriented model with a 5.25-inch barrel, adjustable rear sight, and a red dot mounting system on the barrel.
- TX22 Competition SCR (Steel Challenge Ready) – A variant of the Competition model featuring a skeletonized slide, a TandemKross Game Changer PRO squared compensator, a custom bull barrel, and a TandemKross "Eagle's Talon" extractor.
- TX22 T.O.R.O. (Taurus Optic Ready Option) – Models that are factory-milled to accept miniature red dot optics.

Features
The TX22 includes a threaded barrel (on most models) with a 1/2-28 thread pattern, compatible with the majority of .22 LR suppressors. A suppressor adapter collar is included. The pistol also features a reversible magazine release for left-handed operation. The trigger pull weight is approximately 5 lbs.
Gen 2
A second-generation version (TX22 Gen 2) was later released with enhancements including slide lightening cuts, improved iron sights, and updated styling while retaining the Performance Trigger System and threaded barrel.
