Tat'yana Alekseyevna Tumanova (Russian: Татьяна Алексеевна Туманова; also romanized as Tatiana Alekseevna Tumanova; born 18 December 1952) is a Russian (Soviet) palaeontologist affiliated with the Paleontological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. She holds the degree of Candidate of Biological Sciences (кандидат биологических наук).
Tumanova is a specialist in ankylosaurs — armored, herbivorous dinosaurs — with a particular focus on specimens recovered from the Cretaceous deposits of Mongolia. Her notable scientific contributions include the following:
- In 1978, together with Sergei Kurzanov, she described the first braincase material of the ankylosaur Amtosaurus, based on specimens discovered by the Soviet–Mongolian Paleontological Expedition of 1975.
- In 1986, she published on the skull morphology of the ankylosaur Shamosaurus scutatus from the Lower Cretaceous of Mongolia.
- In 1987, she authored the monograph The Armored Dinosaurs of Mongolia (Pantsirnye dinozavry Mongolii).
- In 1993, she described the ankylosaur genus Tsagantegia from a skull held at the Institute of Paleontology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
- In 2017, she co-authored (with Paul Penkalski) a study on the cranial morphology and taxonomic status of Tarchia (Dinosauria: Ankylosauridae) from the Upper Cretaceous of Mongolia.
In recognition of her contributions to the understanding of Mongolian ankylosaurs, the ankylosaurid species Tarchia tumanovae (first described in 2021 from the Nemegt Formation of the Upper Cretaceous of Mongolia) was named in her honor.
