Taruwar Kohli (born 17 December 1988) is an Indian first-class cricketer who plays for Delhi in domestic cricket. A right-handed opening batsman and occasional right-arm medium-fast bowler, he was a member of the India Under-19 team that won the 2008 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup.
Early Life and Junior Career
Born in Delhi, Taruwar Kohli began his cricketing journey through the junior ranks of Delhi cricket. His significant breakthrough came when he was selected for the India Under-19 squad for the 2008 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, held in Malaysia. Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli (the two are not related), Taruwar played a crucial role as an opening batsman, contributing to India's successful campaign where they clinched the title. He notably scored a half-century in the crucial semi-final match against New Zealand.
Domestic Career
Following his success in the Under-19 World Cup, Taruwar Kohli made his first-class debut for Delhi in the 2008-09 Ranji Trophy season. He has since been a regular feature for Delhi in various domestic competitions, including the Ranji Trophy (first-class), Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A), and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (Twenty20).
Known for his solid technique and ability to build innings, Kohli primarily bats at the top of the order. While his international career did not progress beyond the U-19 level, he has been a consistent performer for his state side, contributing with crucial runs in the domestic circuit.
