Tani Yuuki (たにゆうき, born November 9, 1998) is a Japanese male singer-songwriter from Chigasaki, Kanagawa, Japan.
Early Life and Education
Tani Yuuki began his music activities in August 2015 after receiving an acoustic guitar from his grandfather while he was a junior high school student. In 2018, he became a member of the online Japanese musical group "Whitebox." He graduated from vocational school in March 2019.
Career
After graduating, he began posting songs primarily on social media platforms such as TikTok and YouTube. His song "Myra," posted in May 2020, accumulated over 100 million total streaming plays. In May 2021, Tani was featured as the artist of the month for Billboard Japan and TikTok's "Next Fire" initiative, and was invited to perform for its first episode.
In November 2022, he was nominated for the "Best Newcomer Award" at the 64th Japan Record Awards, supported by the Japanese Composers Association.
His 2022 song "W/X/Y" achieved 270 million streaming plays on TikTok. It spent 102 consecutive weeks on Billboard Japan's Hot 100 chart, peaking at number 3, and also spent 80 weeks on the Oricon Digital Single charts, reaching a top ranking of 13.
Tani Yuuki recorded the opening theme song for Edens Zero season 2, titled "Kaibutsu" (械物).
