Tallheo is a First Nations community located in the Central Coast region of British Columbia, Canada. Situated on the south side of North Bentinck Arm, it lies directly across from the town of Bella Coola.
Historically, Tallheo served as an important village site for the Nuxalk Nation (also known as Bella Coola people), one of the Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest Coast. The community is still predominantly inhabited by members of the Nuxalk Nation and functions as a reserve area.
Due to its geographical location, Tallheo is primarily accessible by water. A short ferry service connects the community to Bella Coola, which provides access to the rest of the province via Highway 20. The area is known for its natural beauty, including temperate rainforests, mountains, and coastal waters, which have historically supported the Nuxalk way of life through fishing, hunting, and gathering.
Tallheo remains a center for Nuxalk culture and traditions, maintaining a connection to the rich heritage of its people within the broader context of British Columbia's Indigenous landscape.
