Talât Tekin

Talât Tekin (1910 – 2008) was a Turkish linguist and scholar of Turkic languages. He is recognized for his contributions to the study of Old Turkic, comparative Turkic linguistics, and the historical development of Turkic phonology and morphology.

Early life and education
Born in 1910 in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire, Tekin pursued higher education in linguistics at Istanbul University, where he earned his doctorate with a dissertation on the phonological features of Old Turkic inscriptions.

Academic career
After completing his doctorate, Tekin joined the faculty of Istanbul University, eventually becoming a professor of Turkic linguistics. He served as a senior researcher at the Turkish Language Association (Türk Dil Kurumu) and participated in numerous international conferences on Altaic and Uralic studies. Tekin also held visiting appointments at several European institutions, collaborating with scholars of comparative linguistics.
