Tadao Takayama

Tadao Takayama (June 24, 1904 – July 1, 1980) was a Japanese football player who represented the Japan national team during the early 20th century. He played as a forward.

Career

Takayama attended Kyoto Imperial University (now Kyoto University), where he played for the university's football club. During his club career, he was a member of Kobe Iccho, a team composed of alumni from the Kobe High School football program.

National Team

In 1930, Takayama was selected to the Japan national team for the ninth Far Eastern Championship Games held in Tokyo. He made his international debut on May 25, 1930, in a match against the Philippines, which Japan won 7–2. He also appeared in the tournament's final match against the Republic of China on May 29, 1930, which resulted in a 3–3 draw. This result led to Japan and the Republic of China sharing the championship title. Takayama earned a total of two caps for the national team.

Later Life

Following his career in athletics, Takayama worked in education. He served as the principal of several educational institutions, including Hyogo Prefectural Kobe High School. He died of heart failure on July 1, 1980, at the age of 76.
