TV3 (Danish TV channel)

TV3 is a commercial television channel aimed at a Danish audience. Launched on January 1, 1987, it was one of the first commercial channels to target the Scandinavian market, breaking the long-standing monopoly of public service broadcasters in the region.

Owned by the Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group, now Viaplay Group), TV3 initially broadcast from London to circumvent strict advertising laws in Denmark that at the time limited commercial television. This strategy allowed it to air commercials that were not permitted on Danish domestic channels. Over the years, its broadcasting base has sometimes shifted, but its programming and advertising continue to be tailored specifically for the Danish market.

TV3's programming schedule typically features a mix of international series and films, reality television shows, drama, documentaries, and local Danish productions. It has been a pioneer in introducing various formats to the Danish audience, including popular reality and talent shows. The channel is known for its general entertainment profile, often targeting a broad demographic with a slight lean towards younger adult viewers.

TV3 is part of a larger family of channels under the Viaplay Group umbrella in Denmark, which also includes sister channels like TV3+ and TV3 Puls, each catering to slightly different niches with specialized content, including sports.
