Syllepte nitidalis is a species of moth in the family Crambidae. It was first described by the French entomologist Paul Dognin in 1905 under the original name Neomabra nitidalis. It is currently placed in the genus Syllepte, which was established by Jacob Hübner in 1823 and belongs to the subfamily Spilomelinae, tribe Agroterini.
Distribution
The species is recorded from Loja Province in southern Ecuador. Some sources also indicate a distribution extending into Costa Rica.
Description
Syllepte nitidalis is a small moth with straw-yellow wings marked by distinctive brown patterns. The forewings feature orbicular and reniform spots, along with various dentate (tooth-like) and sinuous (wavy) lines.
