The supraorbital nerve is a sensory branch of the frontal nerve, which itself is a branch of the ophthalmic division (V₁) of the trigeminal nerve (cranial nerve V). It provides cutaneous innervation to the forehead, scalp, and upper eyelid.
Anatomical origin and course
- Origin: The supraorbital nerve originates from the frontal nerve within the orbit.

- Surgical considerations: Care must be taken during procedures such as brow lifts, frontal sinus surgery, or trauma repair to avoid iatrogenic injury to the nerve, which can result in numbness or dysesthesia.
