Sumchinvum is a small village in Singngat Sub-Division, Churachandpur District, Manipur, India.
Geography
Sumchinvum is located approximately 29 km from the district headquarters of Churachandpur and about 95 km from Imphal, the capital of Manipur. Its PIN code is 795139. It is surrounded by the villages of Muallum, Haijang, New Laijang, and Singngat.
Demography
According to the 2011 Census of India, Sumchinvum had a population of 999 (496 males and 503 females). The literacy rate was 63.60%, with male literacy at 70.33% and female literacy at 56.72%.
Ethnic Groups
The Zou community constitutes the majority ethnic group in Sumchinvum. Although the Village Chief is from the Kuki community, the languages, cultures, and traditions of the Zou community are predominantly followed. Other ethnic groups residing in the village include the Meitei and the Tedim people.

The primary language spoken in the village is Zou. Some households also speak Thadou-Kuki and other dialects.
History
The village was formerly known as "Dimmual" by the Tedim people who inhabited the area before the Kuki–Paite ethnic clash of 1997–98.
