The name "Sukhteh Chenar" is derived from two Persian words:
- Sukhteh (سوخته): Meaning "burnt" or "scorched."
- Chenar (چنار): Referring to a plane tree (genus Platanus, specifically Platanus orientalis in this region). The name directly alludes to a historical fire that severely damaged the tree's trunk but which the tree remarkably survived.
