Sterling K. Brown (born March 31 1976) is an American actor, producer, and director. He is recognized for his work in television dramas, notably for portraying Christopher Darden in The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story (2016) and Randall Pearson in the NBC series This Is Us (2016–2022). His performances have earned him multiple Primetime Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
Early life and education
Sterling Kelby Brown was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in the suburb of Olivette. He is the son of a pastor and a schoolteacher. Brown attended St. John’s School and later graduated from Westminster Christian Academy. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in drama from Stanford University in 1998 and subsequently obtained a Master of Fine Arts in acting from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in 2001.
