Description
Stenoma cycnographa is a moth species in the family Depressariidae. The original description provided by Edward Meyrick (1925) notes a wingspan of approximately 20 mm. The forewings are described as greyish‑brown with darker, indistinct markings; the hindwings are a lighter grey. Detailed morphological characters, such as the pattern of the wing veins and genitalia structure, conform to diagnostic features of the genus Stenoma.
Distribution
The species has been recorded from the Neotropical region. Specimens cited in the original description were collected in French Guiana, and subsequent catalogue entries list the species as occurring in northern South America. No broader distributional data are currently documented in major lepidopteran databases.
Habitat and Ecology
Specific information on the habitat preferences, larval host plants, and life cycle of S. cycnographa has not been published. As with many members of the Depressariidae, larvae are presumed to feed on plant material, but the exact host(s) for this species remain unknown.
Taxonomic Notes
The species was first described in Meyrick’s work “Exotic Microlepidoptera” (vol. 3, 1925). No synonymy has been reported, and the name remains valid in contemporary taxonomic checklists of Depressariidae.
