Stella Stratigou (Greek: Στέλλα Στρατηγού; October 28, 1930 – September 16, 2005) was a Greek actress. Known for her prolific career in Greek cinema, particularly during the "Golden Age" of the 1950s and 1960s, she appeared in over 60 films, often in supporting but memorable roles.
Biography
Born on October 28, 1930, in Athens, Greece, Stella Stratigou came from a prominent artistic family. Her siblings, Alekos Stratigos and Georgia Stratigou, were also actors, as was her cousin Stella Christodoulou. This familial background contributed to her early entry into the entertainment industry.Stratigou's career spanned several decades, though she was most active in the 1950s and 1960s. She became a familiar face in popular Greek comedies and dramas, known for her expressive performances. While she often played secondary characters, her presence was consistently noted, and she contributed significantly to the ensemble casts of many beloved Greek films.
She was briefly married to fellow actor Andreas Barkoulis from 1961 to 1964.
Stella Stratigou passed away on September 16, 2005, in Athens, at the age of 74. She is remembered as a contributing figure to the vibrant era of classic Greek cinema.
