Stéfanie Clermont

Stéfanie Clermont is a Canadian author known for her contributions to contemporary francophone literature. Born in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1988, she later relocated to Montreal, Quebec.

Clermont gained significant literary recognition for her debut work, Le jeu de la musique (The Music Game), published in 2017 by Le Quartanier. The book is structured as a series of interconnected short stories that follow a group of friends and political activists navigating the complexities of adulthood, collective trauma, and ideological disillusionment.

For Le jeu de la musique, Clermont received several accolades. In 2018, she won the Prix littéraire des collégiens, a prestigious award in Quebec where the winner is selected by students from various colleges. The work was also a finalist for the Governor General's Literary Award for French-language fiction and the Prix des libraires du Québec.

Her writing is characterized by an exploration of social and political themes, often focusing on the lives of marginalized individuals or those involved in radical movements. An English translation of her debut, titled The Music Game, was published in 2022.
