Squaw Peak Inn is a historic building located at 4425 E. Horseshoe Road in the eastern foothills of Piestewa Peak (formerly known as Squaw Peak) in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. Constructed in 1938, the structure was originally operated as a “ranch hotel” and later served as a private residence and inn. It is an example of Pueblo Revival architecture, characterized by stuccoed adobe walls, a flat parapeted roof, protruding vigas, and original steel casement windows.
The inn was built by Malcolm D. Seashore and functioned as a hospitality venue that hosted tourists and celebrities during the mid‑20th century. Over time its use shifted between a hotel, single‑family dwelling, and a historic landmark. The property includes a main house and a detached guest house situated on the lower northeastern slopes of the mountain.
Squaw Peak Inn was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on January 1 1995 (NRHP reference number 96000760). The NRHP nomination cites its association with broad patterns of American history—particularly the development of tourism and recreation in the Phoenix region—and its architectural significance as a locally notable example of Pueblo Revival style.
The building is currently classified as a Grade 4 historic property, indicating local significance. While it is no longer operating as a commercial inn, the structure remains a recognized historic resource within Maricopa County and contributes to the cultural heritage of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
