Space Siege

Space Siege is an action role-playing video game developed by Gas Powered Games and published by Sega. Released in August 2008 for Microsoft Windows, the game was designed by Chris Taylor, the creator of the Dungeon Siege and Total Annihilation series.

The narrative is set in a science fiction future where Earth has been destroyed by a hostile alien race known as the Kerak. The story takes place aboard the Armstrong, a massive colony ship and one of the few vessels to escape the destruction of the planet. Players assume the role of Seth Walker, a combat engineer tasked with defending the ship from Kerak invaders who have managed to board the vessel.

A central mechanic of Space Siege is the moral and tactical decision regarding cybernetic enhancements. As the game progresses, players are given the option to replace Seth's body parts with robotic components to increase his combat effectiveness. This "humanity" system tracks how much of the protagonist's biological body remains, which influences the story's progression and the ending achieved.

The gameplay features real-time tactical combat, often involving the use of a customizable robotic companion named HR-V. Players can upgrade Seth's skills and weaponry through resources collected during missions. Unlike the Dungeon Siege series, which allowed for a party of characters, Space Siege focuses primarily on the single protagonist and his robotic drone.

Upon its release, Space Siege received mixed critical reviews. While its streamlined mechanics were noted, it was often compared unfavorably by critics to the developer's previous work in terms of depth and complexity.
