Sophie Zelmani

Sophie Zelmani (born Sophie Edkvist, February 12, 1972) is a Swedish singer-songwriter associated with the folk-pop and indie genres.

Zelmani began her professional career in 1995 with the release of her self-titled debut album, Sophie Zelmani. The record achieved commercial success in Sweden and was produced by Lars Halapi, who has served as her primary collaborator and producer throughout her discography. Her musical style is characterized by minimalist acoustic arrangements, a quiet vocal delivery, and introspective lyrical themes.

Her discography includes a series of studio albums such as Precious Burden (1998), Sing and Dance (2002), A Decade of Dreams (2005), and Sunrise (2019). While she maintains a significant following in Sweden, her music has also gained international recognition, particularly in Japan and various European markets. Her song "Going Home" reached a wider audience in Asia after it was covered by the artist Faye Wong.

In 1996, Zelmani was awarded a Swedish Grammis for Best Newcomer. Her career is noted for a consistent artistic direction and a preference for a reserved public presence.
