Sophie Carenco is a French chemist and materials scientist, recognized for her contributions to the synthesis and characterization of advanced inorganic materials, particularly nitrides, and their applications in areas such as catalysis and energy. She is a researcher at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS).
Career and Research
Sophie Carenco pursued her academic training in chemistry and materials science. She completed her Ph.D. in 2010 at Sorbonne Université (formerly Université Pierre et Marie Curie) in Paris, focusing on the synthesis of metallic nanoparticles. Following her doctoral work, she conducted postdoctoral research, broadening her expertise in the field of inorganic materials. In 2012, Sophie Carenco joined the CNRS as a permanent researcher. Her research primarily centers on the design and controlled synthesis of novel solid-state materials, with a particular emphasis on nitrides. She investigates their structural, electronic, and catalytic properties, aiming to develop materials with enhanced performance for various technological applications, including sustainable chemistry and renewable energy. Her work often involves advanced characterization techniques to understand material behavior at the atomic and molecular levels. She is affiliated with the Institut de Chimie des Matériaux Paris-Est (ICMPE) at Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC).
