Skorradalsvatn is a lake located in the Skorradalur valley in the western region of Iceland. It is a long, narrow body of water, stretching approximately 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) in length, with a surface area of about 14.7 square kilometers (5.7 square miles). The lake's maximum depth is approximately 48 meters (157 feet).
The lake is situated between the Skarðsheiði mountain range to the south and a lower ridge of hills to the north. The surrounding valley is notable for its relatively high levels of afforestation in comparison to the Icelandic national average. This includes the Stálpastaðaskógur forest, which is managed by the Icelandic Forest Service (Skógræktin) and contains a variety of tree species, including Sitka spruce and Siberian larch.
Skorradalsvatn is utilized for industrial and recreational purposes. Its water levels are regulated to supply the Andakílsárvirkjun hydroelectric power station, located downstream. The valley is also a significant site for domestic tourism, containing a high density of summer cottages and vacation homes. The lake is accessible via Route 52 and is approximately 90 kilometers (56 miles) from the capital, Reykjavík.
