Simone Consonni

Simone Consonni (born 12 September 1994 in Ponte San Pietro, Lombardy, Italy) is an Italian professional cyclist who competes in both road and track disciplines. He currently rides for UCI WorldTeam Lidl–Trek.

Early career
Consonni began his amateur cycling with Team Colpack, where he rode from 2013 to 2016.

Professional teams

  • UAE Abu Dhabi (2017–2019) – competed primarily on the road.
  • Cofidis (2020–2023) – continued road racing and represented Italy in international track events.
  • Lidl–Trek (2024–present) – rides as a lead-out rider and sprinter’s support.

Track achievements
Consonni has been a key member of the Italian national team pursuit squad. His major results include:

  • Olympic Games – Gold medal in the men’s team pursuit at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics (held 2021).
  • UCI Track Cycling World Championships – Multiple podium finishes in the team pursuit, including silver medals in 2020 (Berlin), 2021 (Roubaix), and subsequent years.

He has also earned medals in other track events such as the Madison, Scratch race, and Omnium at world championship level.

Road results
While primarily known for his track success, Consonni has achieved notable road results, including stage victories and high placements in European one‑day races and contributing to sprint finishes for his trade teams.
