Silas Gnaka

Silas Gnaka (born 18 December 1998) is an Ivorian professional footballer who plays as a left-back or defensive midfielder for French club Saint-Étienne.

Early Life and Career Gnaka was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. He began his football career in his home country, developing his skills before moving to Europe.

Club Career

  • KAS Eupen (2017–2022) Gnaka joined Belgian First Division A club KAS Eupen in January 2017 from the Aspire Academy. He quickly established himself as a versatile player, capable of playing in various defensive and midfield roles. Over five seasons with Eupen, he made over 100 appearances in the Belgian top flight, showcasing his defensive solidity and ability to contribute to build-up play.

  • Hamburger SV (2022) In July 2022, Gnaka moved to Germany, signing with 2. Bundesliga club Hamburger SV. He made his debut for the club shortly after, but his tenure was brief, featuring in only a few matches before moving on.

  • AS Saint-Étienne (2022–present) Later in the 2022 summer transfer window, Gnaka returned to French football, joining AS Saint-Étienne, who were then in Ligue 2. He quickly became an integral part of the team, known for his consistent performances and defensive work rate. His contributions were key as Saint-Étienne aimed for promotion back to Ligue 1. He helped the club achieve promotion to Ligue 1 at the end of the 2023-24 season via the play-offs.

International Career Gnaka has represented the Ivory Coast at various youth levels. He was part of the Ivory Coast U20 national team and later featured for the U23 squad, participating in qualifying tournaments. As of now, he has not yet made a senior international appearance for the Ivory Coast national team.
