Sihuidong station

Overview

Sihuidong station is situated in the eastern part of Beijing and plays a crucial role as an eastern gateway and transfer hub for commuters travelling between the central city and its eastern suburbs. The station consists of elevated platforms for both lines, with the Batong Line essentially continuing the alignment of Line 1 further eastward.

History

  • September 28, 1999: The station opened as the eastern terminus of Beijing Subway Line 1, marking an extension of the line from Sihui station.
  • December 27, 2003: With the opening of the Batong Line, Sihuidong became a transfer station, connecting Line 1 with the new suburban line. It serves as the western terminus for Batong Line services, with trains from the Batong Line continuing west onto Line 1's tracks during certain operational hours, and regular transfer being available for other times.
