Siegfried Wichmann

Siegfried Wichmann (25 July 1921 – 15 November 2015) was a prominent German art historian, curator, and author. He is primarily known for his extensive research and publications on Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) and for his crucial role in the restoration and understanding of the work of Franz von Stuck.

Wichmann was instrumental in the restoration and establishment of the Museum Villa Stuck in Munich, Stuck's former residence and studio, where he served as its founding director from 1968 to 1982. He meticulously researched and reconstructed the original interiors and context of Stuck's artistic environment, particularly the famous Stuck-Jugendstil-Saal (Stuck Art Nouveau Hall).
