Shanxi Longjin F.C. was founded in 2015 with the aim of promoting football in Shanxi province and participating in the professional Chinese football leagues. The club's name, "Longjin," translates roughly to "Dragon's Advance" or "Dragon's Promotion," reflecting an ambition for success.The club made its debut in the China League Two, the third division of Chinese football, in the 2016 season. They continued to participate in the league in the 2017 season.
