Shantaram Laxman Naik (born 15 April 1956) is an Indian politician and lawyer from the state of Goa. A prominent member of the Indian National Congress party, he has served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, representing Goa for multiple terms.
Early Life and Education Naik was born in Goa. He pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree, followed by a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). Prior to his active involvement in national politics, he established himself as a practicing lawyer.
Political Career Shantaram Naik has had a long and significant career within the Indian National Congress. He advanced through the party's ranks in Goa, eventually serving as the President of the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, the state unit of the party.
