Shane Wiedt

Early Life and Junior Career

Wiedt was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He played junior hockey in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for the Omaha Lancers and the Fargo Force. He committed to play college hockey at Penn State University.

Collegiate Career

Wiedt played four seasons of NCAA Division I hockey for the Penn State Nittany Lions from 2018 to 2022. During his time at Penn State, he appeared in 127 games, recording 7 goals and 34 assists for 41 points. He was known for his steady defensive play and ability to contribute offensively.

Professional Career

Wiedt was selected by the Nashville Predators in the 7th round (191st overall) of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. After completing his collegiate career, he signed a professional contract.

He made his professional debut during the 2021-22 season with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL). Since turning professional, Wiedt has played for several teams across the AHL and ECHL, including:

  • Milwaukee Admirals (AHL)
  • Rochester Americans (AHL)
  • Providence Bruins (AHL)
  • Reading Royals (ECHL)
  • Greenville Swamp Rabbits (ECHL)

He signed with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits for the 2023-24 ECHL season.
