Shaman (roller coaster)

Shaman is a steel roller coaster located at Gardaland in Castelnuovo del Garda, Italy. It is a Bolliger & Mabillard inverted coaster, meaning riders are seated below the track with their legs dangling. Opened in 2005 as Magic Mountain, it was re-themed in 2017 and renamed Shaman.

The ride features a lift hill reaching a height of 30 meters (98 feet), followed by a series of inversions, including a loop, zero-g roll, and two corkscrews. The track is approximately 700 meters (2,297 feet) long.

Shaman's re-theming included the addition of virtual reality headsets, offering riders a synchronized visual experience during the ride. This VR experience was later removed. The theme focuses on a Native American narrative, with the ride simulating a journey into the spirit world. Before the VR element was introduced, the ride's re-theming included physical set pieces and ambient audio meant to enhance the feeling of entering a sacred, mystical realm. The current state of the theming is a point of interest, as the VR element has been deactivated, leaving some components of the new theme intact while diminishing the overall immersive experience.
