Shō Ei

Shō Ei was the 6th king of the Ryukyu Kingdom, reigning from 1409 to 1421. He belonged to the First Shō Dynasty, which was established by his father, Shō Hashi. Shō Ei continued his father's policies of consolidating power and expanding trade. He oversaw further centralization of the Ryukyu government and promoted agriculture and commerce. During his reign, diplomatic relations were strengthened with China, and Ryukyu prospered as a major trading hub in East Asia. He is also credited with establishing a formal system of ranks and titles for officials within the Ryukyuan court.
