Seth Worley

Seth Worley is an American filmmaker, writer, and entrepreneur recognized for his contributions to short films, commercial directing, and the development of creative tools for storytellers. He is known for a body of work that often integrates high-concept science fiction or magical realism with character-driven comedy.

Worley gained significant attention within the filmmaking community through his long-standing collaboration with Red Giant (now a part of Maxon), a company specializing in software for motion graphics and visual effects. For Red Giant, Worley wrote and directed a series of high-production short films intended to demonstrate the practical application of visual effects software. Notable examples of these works include Plot Device (2011), Tempo (2012), and Old/New (2014), the latter of which was narrated by Patton Oswalt.

In addition to his directorial work, Worley is the co-founder and director of Plot Devices, a company that designs and manufactures tools for the creative process. The company is most notably associated with the Storyclock Notebook, a specialized journal designed to help writers and filmmakers visualize and map out the structural timing of stories and screenplays.

Worley’s professional output also includes commercial directing for various brands and educational contributions to the filmmaking industry. He frequently produces instructional content and speaks on topics related to screenwriting, post-production, and low-budget filmmaking techniques. His work has been featured in various industry publications, including Filmmaker Magazine and The Hollywood Reporter.
