Serpil Senelmis

Serpil Senelmis is an Australian broadcaster, journalist, and public speaker of Turkish heritage. She is noted for her reporting on the Turkish perspective of the Gallipoli campaign and for her work as a radio producer for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on Radio National and Triple J. As of 2024, she is co‑founder and director of the content‑marketing agency Written & Recorded.

Early life and education
Senelmis was born in Tatura, Victoria, Australia, after her parents emigrated from Nevşehir, Turkey, in 1969. She graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).

Media career
After completing her studies, Senelmis worked as a print journalist for Perth street‑press outlets, including Xpress and Nova Holistic Journal. She subsequently joined the ABC, where she served as a senior radio producer on Radio National and a presenter on Local Radio. Her production credits include work with prominent Australian broadcasters and personalities such as Jon Faine, Helen Razer, Derryn Hinch, Waleed Aly, and comedians Nazeem Hussain and Tony Moclair.

Senelmis has been a regular contributor to coverage of the Gallipoli commemorations, providing the Turkish viewpoint during the Dawn Service in 2014 and the centenary events in 2015. She has produced documentaries on Turkish music of the 1960s and on the Turkish history of the Gallipoli campaign. Her radio presenting has highlighted under‑reported topics, including the art and activism of young Indian creator Kaanchi Chopra.

In 2024, Senelmis co‑founded Written & Recorded with James Brandis. The agency comprises journalists, producers, audio engineers, and communications experts who offer services such as podcast production, copywriting, and communications training.
