Sergino

Sergino Gianni Dest (born November 3, 2000) is an American professional soccer player who primarily plays as a right-back, though he is also capable of playing on the left flank. He is known for his attacking prowess, dribbling skills, and versatility. Dest represents the United States national team internationally.

Early Life and Youth Career

Born in Almere, Netherlands, to an American father and a Dutch mother, Sergino Dest began his youth football career with Alphense Boys before joining the prestigious Ajax academy in 2012. He progressed through the various youth ranks at Ajax, eventually playing for Jong Ajax, the club's reserve team, in the Eerste Divisie.

Club Career

= Dest made his senior debut for Ajax in July 2019. He quickly established himself as a first-team player, impressing with his performances in both the Eredivisie and the UEFA Champions League. His strong displays garnered attention from top European clubs.

=Barcelona

= In October 2020, Dest signed with Spanish giants FC Barcelona. He became the first American to play for the senior Barcelona team. During his time at Barcelona, he won the Copa del Rey in the 2020–21 season.

=AC Milan (loan)

= In September 2022, Dest joined Italian club AC Milan on a season-long loan.

=PSV (loan)

= In August 2023, he moved to Dutch club PSV Eindhoven on loan. He played a significant role in PSV's Eredivisie title win during the 2023–24 season.

International Career

Eligible to represent both the United States and the Netherlands, Dest ultimately chose to play for the United States. He made his senior international debut for the United States men's national soccer team (USMNT) in September 2019. He has since been a key player for the USMNT, participating in competitions such as the CONCACAF Nations League, which he won twice with the team, and the FIFA World Cup.

Playing Style

Dest is recognized for his offensive contributions from the full-back position. He possesses excellent dribbling ability, speed, and comfort on the ball, allowing him to drive forward and create attacking opportunities.
