Sean Wilson (actor)

Sean Wilson (born 1965) is an English actor and cheesemaker. He is best known for his long-running role as Martin Platt in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, a character he played from 1985 to 2005, with a brief return in 2018.

Early Life and Career Wilson was born in Oldham, Lancashire, England. He began his acting career in the 1980s, securing the role of Martin Platt in Coronation Street when he was 20 years old. His character, initially a nurse, became a central figure in many storylines, including a marriage to Gail Potter (Helen Worth), making him a popular and recognizable face on British television.

Post-Coronation Street Career After leaving Coronation Street in 2005, Wilson pursued other ventures. He trained as a chef and later became a professional cheesemaker. He launched his own cheese company, "Saddleworth Cheese Company," which produces award-winning artisan cheeses. He has also featured in various television programmes related to food and cooking, showcasing his culinary skills and passion for cheesemaking.

Return to Coronation Street In 2018, Wilson reprised his role as Martin Platt for a brief storyline in Coronation Street, reuniting with his on-screen son David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd).
