Scooter Gennett

Definition
Scooter Gennett is an American professional baseball infielder who has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for several teams, most notably the Cincinnati Reds.

Overview
Born on September 30, 1991, in West Palm Beach, Florida, Charles “Scooter” Gennett attended the University of Central Florida, where he played collegiate baseball for the UCF Knights. He was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 13th round of the 2012 MLB Draft and made his major‑league debut on August 19, 2013. In his debut, Gennett recorded five runs batted in (RBIs), setting a modern‑era record for most RBIs by a position‑player in a debut.

During his tenure with the Reds (2013–2019), Gennett was primarily a second‑base and third‑base defender and became known for his switch‑hitting capability. On June 8, 2017, he hit for the cycle against the Chicago Cubs, becoming the first Reds player to accomplish the feat since 1918 and the first player in MLB since 2015 to hit for the cycle as a member of a team that was under .500 at the time.

After being traded to the Seattle Mariners in July 2019, Gennett also played for the Milwaukee Brewers (2020) and the San Diego Padres (2021). As of the 2023 season, he has accumulated a career batting average around .260, with more than 1,300 hits, 180 home runs, and 560 RBIs.
