Career
Satonofuji made his professional debut in March 1979. He steadily climbed through the lower divisions, eventually reaching the juryo division, the second-highest professional rank, in July 1987. After performing well in juryo, he made his debut in the top makuuchi division in September 1988.
His highest rank achieved was Maegashira 11 in May 1989. He competed in the makuuchi division for a total of four tournaments. After being relegated back to juryo and then makushita due to inconsistent performance, he retired from sumo in March 1991. Over his career, Satonofuji participated in 73 professional tournaments.
Fighting Style
Satonofuji, weighing around 147 kg (324 lbs) at his peak, was known for his oshi-sumo (pushing and thrusting) techniques, utilizing his substantial build to drive opponents out of the ring.
