Early life and education
Sam Seale was born on November 24, 1957, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. He later moved to the United States, where he attended high school in San Jose, California. Seale played college football at San Jose State University, where he was a standout defensive back for the Spartans.
Professional playing career
Seale entered the National Football League (NFL) after being selected by the Los Angeles Raiders in the fourth round (96th overall) of the 1980 NFL Draft. He spent his entire ten‑season playing career (1980–1989) with the Raiders, who relocated to Los Angeles in 1982. Primarily a cornerback, Seale was known for his coverage skills and consistency in the secondary.
