Sam Newman (born 1901, date of death unknown) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the early 1920s.
Newman, a rover, joined Fitzroy from Preston District. He made his senior debut in 1922 and played a total of 12 VFL games across the 1922 and 1923 seasons, without kicking a goal. Information regarding his career beyond his time at Fitzroy, and his life in general, is scarce. He is not to be confused with the later, and more well-known, Sam Newman who played for Geelong.
