Sagmatias

Sagmatias is a genus of moths belonging to the family Geometridae, specifically within the subfamily Ennominae. The genus was first described by Francis Walker in 1862. Species within Sagmatias are primarily found in regions of South America. Like other members of the Geometridae family, these moths typically have slender bodies and broad wings, often resting with their wings held flat. The larvae are commonly known as loopers or inchworms due to their distinctive method of locomotion, which involves bringing their posterior segments up to their anterior segments in an arching motion.
