Sacred Heart Convent School (Thailand)

Definition
Sacred Heart Convent School (Thai: โรงเรียนพระหฤทัยคอนแวนต์) is a private, Roman Catholic college‑preparatory school located in the Khlong Toei District of Bangkok, Thailand. It provides education from kindergarten through secondary levels and operates both Thai‑language and English‑language programmes.

Overview
Founded on 28 February 1934 by Sr. Séraphine de Marie Luttenbacher of the Sisters of Saint Paul of Chartres, the school was originally named “Couvent de Sacré Coeur.” Initially offering grades 1–4, it expanded to include a kindergarten in 1975 and introduced an English Program (EP) in 2002. While it began as an all‑girls institution, it now admits both male and female students, maintaining separate Thai and English streams. The campus is situated at 94 Sunthornkosa Road, near the centre of downtown Bangkok.

Etymology / Origin
The name reflects the Catholic devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. “Convent” denotes the school’s origin within a religious community of sisters who administered the institution. The Thai name, โรงเรียนพระหฤทัยคอนแวนต์, is a direct translation of the English title.
